About

We are proud to be able to offer TBRIĀ®Ā Caregiver Training as a resource for parents and children, old and new, working to build strong, healthy connections.

TBRIĀ®Ā is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention based on the research of Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. Derek Cross that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRIĀ®Ā uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRIĀ®Ā is connection.

Sponsored byĀ Lifesong for Orphans.

What is TBRI Caregiver Training?

TBRIĀ® Caregiver Training equips families and their children with the tools needed to develop secure attachments, empower healthy growth, and begin to heal. Our parent and child trauma-informed classes work through difficult real-life situations through intentional, scenario-based discussions and exercises with a licensed professional counselor specializing in children, adolescent, and family work.

This 8-week, 16-hour series is offered as an online series for any and all families who are ready to take steps towards healthy, trusting, safe relationships with their children. Designed as a series based on theĀ Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)Ā model first introduced by theĀ Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian UniversityĀ (Dr. Karyn Purvis & Dr. David Cross),Ā TBRIĀ® Caregiver TrainingĀ embraces connection and attachment through trust and empowerment-based parenting.

Class size is limited to ensure that each family is able to receive enough support from this training.

In each class, parents will have the chance to learn and discuss high nurture, high structure care techniques as they may best be applied in the parenting of their children. Additionally, parents will have a chance to work with their children with the support of our nurture group trainer in two optional supplemental classes. Parents will be able to practice each week’s new set of tools with their children in between classes.

As this is an online course, families should do their best to find a relatively quiet area in their home with strong internet signal. We know that this may be a difficult quest, so please do not worry if the living room with five competing voices is the best you can find. We understand!

Dedicated attendance is highly encouraged, but if the class is cut off for you due to internet issues or your child is going through the meltdown of meltdowns during class time, we will have supplemental class materials that you will be able to study along with when you find the next free moment.

How should I prepare for this course?
